I read The Omnivore's Dilemma some years ago and found it to be just another trite superficial piece of fluff typical of Pollen and his ilk. It doesn't surprise me that his star turn is in reality something of a fraud. Popularity in the USA is based on lies, not substance - and there's a deep systemic reason for that.
