I think when making claims such as those presented in the article, footnotes citing appropriate clinical studies should be provided. Otherwise all one has are glib opinions, and the Internet has a superfluity of those. While it is true that a great many people to the detriment of their health consume too much alcohol, it's also true that there is contradictory evidence regarding mild alcohol use. For example, some studies indicate that low intakes of alcohol can reduce, not increase, blood pressure and thereby reduce risk of stroke and heart attack. Hence the inclusion of red wine in the so-called Mediterranean Diet. Hence the need for citing support for one's claims on such an important topic.
