I totally agree. Furthermore, aside from those living in the Central Valley and Orange County, most Californians would love to be bought by a country that doesn’t believe one must be rich in order to deserve health care, or that teaching “duck and cover” drills to small children at school is a necessary element of the curriculum, or that “work till you drop” is the essential meaning of life. Maybe we could arrange a rent-to-buy deal with Norway? After all, they still have plenty of North Sea oil and have amassed a significant sovereign wealth fund that could be used for the initial deposit. They’d get somewhere to go for sunny summer vacations and Californians would get a quality of life far beyond anything imaginable anywhere in the USA.
