I'd be a bit more careful, I think, before writing a triumphalist narrative about the West pulling together to stop Putin's invasion of Ukraine. The truth is that we've consistently dithered, prevaricated, and sent too little, far too late. We're still failing to send critical aviation assets despite it being terribly clear Ukraine's air defenses will be exhausted by mid-May. Putin's regime may be incompetent, corrupt, and vile but the same was true of Stalin's regime - and he ruled for a long, long time in which tens of millions were killed. Ukraine may still be turned into one large Russian gulag, because the US Republican Party is actively doing everything it can to block aid to Ukraine, Europe's NATO members have exhausted their stockpiles, and the general public are easily duped into waving mindless placards demanding "peace" which really means capitulation.
The war is, sadly, far from over and it is not at all clear that the West has any real capacity for sustained effort in the face of relentless grinding aggression from Russia.
