If one bothers to look at historical precedent we see one very clear pattern: when things are going badly for Russia it offers "peace talks" which turn out (always) to be nothing more than a fixing exercise intended to permit Russia to rebuild its offensive capacity before relaunching new attacks. Only morons believe that Russian offers of "peace" talks are anything other than a total sham. Putin and his lackeys have made it abundantly clear that the only acceptable outcome to the current war is ultimate Russian control over all of Ukraine. Russian TV hosts now routinely talk about "solving the Ukrainian problem" and use other language about "a final solution." Russia continues to use social media to promote outcomes that aid Russia, such as sewing continued division within Europe and helping to re-elect Trump to the White House for a second term. Russian policy is explicitly hegemonist, regarding all previous Warsaw Pact countries as "really" belonging to Russia.

Given this context, any "peace" talks proposed by Russia are nothing more than a sham intended to dupe empty-headed Westerners. If Russia really wanted peace it would withdraw its troops from the occupied territories and stop destroying Ukrainian infrastructure. But of course Russia is not doing that, which shows us how sincere their "peace" proposals really are.

So, let's not be morons and talk about "peace" talks with Russia, OK?
