If one is happy to accept one's imperfections and not really feel like making any effort toward self-care (because body condition isn't merely "a valid lifestyle choice" but has major health implications) then one must also be willing to accept that one's potential partners will most likely also feel the same way about their own condition. Therefore one needs a reasonably accurate sense of what one must be willing to accept, otherwise perpetual disappointment (and no doubt in time no small amount of bitterness) will almost inevitably ensue. I've heard unshaven unkempt obese men in their fifties complaining that the pert 20 year old woman across the street isn't willing to consider them "dating material" and I've heard similar kinds of self-centered complaints from the other side of the gender fence. A healthy dose of realism is an essential component if one is hoping to date with any modicum of success.
