If the naive argument presented in this article were true, civilized countries such as those in Europe would be suffering from endless bombings etc. In reality, of course, only the USA is habituated to daily carnage (more than 100 gunshot deaths per day, every day, every year) so only the USA has a totally dysfunctional notion of what normal levels of violence really are in a modern society. European nations, for the most part, ban guns - especially handguns - and the result? No bombings, few stabbings, and a homicide level per 450,000,000 people that is in total lower than that of Chicago alone.
