I'm not really sure the USA has "brainwashed the world into believing it promotes democracy, freedom, and human rights." In fact, I'd go so far as to say that the only people who believe this live in the USA. Most Europeans know the USA is a deeply corrupt nation and a ruthless actor on the international stage. The illegal invasion of Iraq was no less stupid than supporting French rule in VietNam, and most educated Europeans are aware of the CIA's role in overthrowing several democratically elected leaders around the world and installing thuggish stooges who then went on to brutalize their people and ruin their economies. While many people yearn for US items like jeans and McSlop, very few are under any illusions regarding the nature of the USA itself. The overt racism of its police, for example, keeps making the point very clearly every few weeks, and the fact the Republican Party is now overtly a neofascist organization has likewise escaped no one's notice.
