I'm skeptical about the assertion that people see through Trump's pathetic infantile lies. The people who have always fallen for these mental vomits continue to fall for them because, having committed themselves emotionally and because he speaks in simple-minded terms they can understand, they can do nothing else. Trump captured 43 million US voters by the simple expedient of being just like them, only with the illusion of great wealth. These people have not changed, they have not changed their mind about their great orange savior, and they will vote reliably in November. Meanwhile it's clear that Trump can command the DHS as his own personal paramilitary, which means a South American style coup is all too plausible a scenario. After all, who'd oppose him and his stormtroopers when it came down to it? People standing around waving placards are totally impotent in the face of bullets and "extraordinary renditions" and detention and torture.
