In the interests of accuracy, depending precisely on how one defines “early adopters,” actual data indicates that far more often than not these folk are burned by adopting early. Remember those who flocked to Friendster? Or those who rushed out to buy a Newton? The history of tech is littered with people who were sure they were catching the wave of The Next Big Thing, only to discover it left them high up on the beach and many dollars out of pocket.

As for blockchain, well… it’s still a solution searching for a problem. Even today. I’ve yet to see a truly compelling case made for its use in any scenario whatsoever. Hype isn’t a substitute for solving real-world problems, especially if those problems are already solved perfectly adequately.
