Instead of looking for quick-fixes to solve the plastic pollution problem (and guess what: the enzyme approach is hopelessly inadequate) we should be reducing our totally unnecessary utilization of plastic everywhere. Why on Earth are we wrapping vegetables in plastic? Why is every food item wrapped in plastic? Why are we proliferating our unnecessary use of plastic even when we know it's insane? Stopping the madness will be far more effective at scale than looking for niche techno-fixes that won't in fact do more than nibble at the edges of the problem.
