It appears to be one of the many curses of humanity that we persistently over-complicate matters. In reality, the average person (regardless of whether they are gawping at a shiny screen or drinking among friends at a bar) merely absorbs whatever simplistic soundbites they are fed by purported authority figures and never, ever, questions them thereafter.

This is why tha vast majority of Republican voters believe Trump's pathetic lie about a "stolen" election, and why Democrat voters adored chanting "defund the police" despite both soundbites being equally vacuous - though the former will lead to civil war, while the latter was merely a transient middle-class affectation.

The truth is, we humans use the 1.45kg of grey matter inside our skulls primarily as ballast to stop our heads bobbling around when we walk; very rarely does anyone attempt to use the brain for anything else, and even more rarely for making an effort to think with even the vaguest semblance of rationality.
