It is perhaps a little naive to imagine that people's self-reporting is in any way accurate. For example, I may think that all foreigners are scum and anyone from my country wanting to live elsewhere is inexplicable and therefore a traitor to our glorious nation, but my response to a survey will be more anodyne. I suspect it would be far more enlightening to measure the IQs of people and their knowledge base in order to ascertain whether it is less intelligent and less informed people who are anti-foreigner, while more cognitively adequate people are more relaxed about both immigration and emigration. My suspicion is that there will be an extremely strong correlation along these lines.
