It may be worth pointing out a few things. Firstly, the phenomenon of pseudo-patriotic nationalism/racism isn't confined to the USA. Every infantile halfwit demagogue uses the tactic because it works - millions of low-IQ citizens leap to "defend" the nation against imaginary threats. AfD in Germany, PiS in Poland, Le Pen and Zemmour in France, the UK Conservative Party, India's Modi, Duterte in the Philippines, Bolsonaro in Brazil, etc. etc. all use the same crude tactic and benefit from the results.
Secondly, historical data indicates that the USA has been a threat to peace on many occasions since its founding, but generally confines its aggression to far-away countries the average US citizen has never even heard of, and inflicts its horrors mostly on darker-skinned people about whom US citizens care nothing.
All we're seeing now is an amplification of already-extant tendencies. US citizens remain unaware and ignorant because they're taught a Disney version of history in school, their mass media reinforces this childish mentality, and so they never encounter real-world facts that would show how hollow their self-conceptions truly are.
But the rest of the world has learned from the USA and is catching up fast.
