It would perhaps be useful to acknowledge there are in fact two very different forms of discovery. One is a dead-end, arguing over pointless abstractions. Hence religion, moral philosophy, and the like are all (with exceedingly rare exceptions) nothing more than tedious party games. They are worthless because they have no reference to the real world. The other form of discovery is via the scientific method, in which observed phenomenon are studied until some adequate explanation of the underlying mechanism(s) can be provided.

This simple distinction is why religionists and philosophers produce only books that few read, while scientists and engineers have shaped the world around us.
