It's a complicated question. Most poor countries are poor because their governments are utterly corrupt and incompetent. Add to this various forms of Western exploitation and you have a perfect recipe for ultra-low-quality outcomes. Fortunately, populism in the West means that we're also destroying the thin vestiges of civilization here too, so everyone will be equally f*cked by mid-century.
