It's a great shame the USA is trapped in the 1870s (and likely always will be). When I was a teen, I was living in Spain when Franco died. Overnight the crushing dead hand of the Catholic Church lost its power and the Guardia Civil no longer felt required to impose medieval moeurs. The first sign of newfound freedom was dozens of grandmothers baring all on beaches formerly occupied only by tourists. After a lifetime of being trapped under black dresses and headscarfs, the grandmothers were tasting freedom for the very first time. No one cared that they were ghostly white and bloated from a lifetime of poor diet. Freedom was the only thing that mattered.
