It's also the case that when food tastes delicious, our craving for flavor is satisfied. The French score very high on this chart, while US food is, frankly, little more than salty-fatty-sugary slop. US people eat in a desperate quest for flavor, so they over-consume. The sad little Brits with their damp weather and bland food suffer from the same problem, which is why US fast-food companies thrive there too.

Unfortunately... even the French are getting fatter, as the US lifestyle becomes more prevalent.
