It's easy for people in the West, far from the battlefields of Ukraine, to self-soothe with fairytales about how everything will magically be alright even though quite obviously it won't be. Here's the reality: European NATO members have zero capability to fight a modern war. France has a modest capability, but will defend France only. The UK has no capability at all and was unable to perform combined arms during the NATO exercise in 2023 despite having had more than a year to prepare for it. Moreover, the UK MoD has admitted that the UK military would exhaust its entire supply of munitions and materiel within 48 hours of high-intensity fighting. The British Army has fewer than 1,000 drones, or about 2 hours worth at Ukrainian rates of consumption. The only NATO member with real capability is the USA and the vermin Trump has already made it clear the USA is effectively no longer a NATO member. Russia will not merely conquer Ukraine but will also take the Baltic states in 2027 when Xi orders the invasion of Taiwan. Aggressors don't have to be strong to triumph; they merely need to be less feeble and irresolute than we are.
