It's easy to claim that two apartment complexes housing 25 families each are better than a single house on the same amount of land... until you actually have to live in one of the apartments. Then you discover your neighbors like to party till 4am but you need to be up at 6am for work. Unfortunately, even after 3 cups of coffee, your plans are wrecked when you discover one of the neighbors has backed into your car during the night and smashed up the rear. Meanwhile, your counterpart in their single-family home is rested and untroubled by the poor parking habits of their neighbors because their car is secure in its garage on on its private driveway.
