It's pretty clear the USA is on a one-way downward spiral towards totalitarianism (though, delightfully, we'll still keep calling it democracy 'n' freedom). There are simply so many systemic problems, so much dysfunction, and so much corruption at every level of society that the USA almost makes Italy look clean by comparison.
