It’s time to popularize the next weight-loss fad: taking airplane trips. As we move further from the surface of the Earth we also move (fractionally) to an area of less dense gravitational field and hence, ta-dah!, we lose weight. Sure, it’s a minuscule amount. For example a 100kg human would lose around 37g at a cruising altitude of 10,000m. But everything counts! And as you’d want to stay up there for as long as possible (because all the “lost” weight returns as the aircraft descends) just think of all the frequent-flier miles. I suspect United, Delta, and others would be very happy to help publicize this great new can’t-fail diet plan. I wonder if we can patent the idea and get rich?
