It's very easy to be excited by hype when one knows little or nothing about complex subjects. Suffice it to say that in reality the complexities of the brain and the capabilities of today's technologies are so far apart that there is zero prospect of anyone performing a successful brain transplant within the next 30 years. Furthermore, it will never be possible to "upload one's consciousness and memories" into a computer any more than we could upload consciousness and memories into a mechanical Babbage calculating machine, no matter how large & complex it became. As for brain transplants, the brain decays just as much as the body, and so transplanting an old decaying brain into a new body would achieve nothing of value, even if it ever one day becomes a practical proposition.
