I've been saying the same thing (often in Medium articles) for months now. Polls have ceased to be useful in any way because of the various distortions you note, and additional distortions you haven't commented on in your article. It's the same reason polls failed to spot the Brexit vote and why they under-estimated Le Pen's support in the first round of the French presidential election last time round.
