Kamala Harris Loses The Debate
Why being far more intelligent and far more adult than Trump doesn’t secure the Presidency
Millions of US voters watched the televised debate between convicted criminal and compulsive liar Donald Trump (R) and the generic well-rehearsed middle-of-the-road aspirant Kamala Harris (D) on 10th September 2024 and plenty of Democrat-leaning TV commentators have since lauded the performance of the Democratic contender.
Alas, such laudatory comments are almost certainly irrelevant to the outcome of the election in November.
Trump’s supporters can be divided into two basic camps. There are the billionaires who don’t care what Trump does to the USA because they imagine their phenomenal tax-free wealth will continue to insulate them from his infantile petulant destructiveness. Many have safe houses in stable countries like New Zealand, Canada, Australia, France, and the UK — countries that for the most part prefer not to elect sniveling blustering morons to the very highest offices (though the UK has repeatedly failed that test and France may elect its own rather more articulate version of Trump to the Elysée Palace in 2027).
