Looking back on history it’s pretty clear that no amount of caution can save us from potential future liability. Indeed, merely existing is often enough for some other group to label us, condemn us, and persecute us.

People are simple animals with tiny brains. It’s inevitable that all groups attempt to secure their goals by means of conflict with other groups -for all of our evolutionary history save the last eye-blink life has been very much a zero-sum game and our brains are hardwired to reflect this reality.

As you rightly point out, technology is amplifying risk by amplifying our ability to be stupid on a grand scale. I’m not tremendously optimistic about the future.
