Low-trust societies are highly manipulative, and it's sad that formerly moderate-trust societies are heading downward thanks to populism. Greeks and Turks famously hate each other precisely because they can't trust each other - yet they are, in this regard, essentially identical (Athens and Thessaloniki somewhat excepted, as being slightly more Westernized).
