How the President of France is vying with Fat Boris to gain the title of World’s Most Stupid Leader
The French have a long and distinguished history of rapid surrender in the face of aggression. Thrice between 1870 and 1940 the French speedily hoisted the white flag in the face of German forces, leaving others to do the fighting and dying while they quaffed wine and enjoyed a wide range of excellent pastries. Eighty years on, nothing seems to have changed.
While one naturally expects Marine Le Pen to be a vocal supporter of her paymaster in the Kremlin, it is not so obvious that Emmanuel Macron should be equally keen to appease Putin at any cost — provided of course that the cost is paid in Ukrainian lives rather than in mild French discomfort. So why is Macron so eager to appease Putin?
The appeasement itself is not in any doubt. Macron has on multiple occasions, and most recently a mere three days ago, announced that the West must not risk humiliating the Russian dictator and therefore must cease sending limited materiel to the victims of Russian aggression and instead focus entirely on ensuring that Putin gets everything he wants while paying no meaningful price whatsoever.
