Many thanks Kitty — I didn’t see this in my feed and so only read it thanks to your comment & link to me. It always saddens me when people are so enthusiastic about finding ways to demonize other people, regardless of whether it’s demonizing people with different-colored skins, of different gender, or of different sexual orientations. Unfortunately it definitely is the road to power because we’re hardwired to want to identify with “our” group especially in terms of opposition to one or more different groups. This was very adaptive 20,000 years ago and far less so today. Unfortunately evolution of the brain is a very, very slow process and today thanks to an enormous population is pretty much impossible (there’s a mathematical formula for the rate at which a mutation that confers mild advantage spreads through a group, and the larger the group the slower the diffusion; at a certain point universal diffusion becomes impossible — this is why some groups are still lactose intolerant even after some 10,000+ years of humans drinking milk).
