My favorite (true) story about Canada is when a major Toronto newspaper ran a competition for the best completion of the sentence beginning "As Canadian as....." Because the USA, Canada's Big Neighbor to the south, has "As American as mom and apple pie" it was felt that Canada ought to have a similarly distinctive phrase of its own. In classically Canadian fashion, the prize went to: "As Canadian as possible under the circumstances."
