NATO can't "wake up" because there is neither the political capability nor the military capability to do anything about Russian aggression. NATO will simply cease to exist when Russia invades the Baltic nations, because that's the easiest course of action. It would be too embarrassing for all concerned if NATO belatedly attempted to oppose Russia by means of arms - NATO troops would be slaughtered, as NATO has learned nothing from the war in Ukraine - and so NATO will quietly dissipate like dew on a hot summer's morning. The USA has no longer any ability to act in its own interests and European NATO members have zero capacity for anything at all. And so, the world belongs to the tyrants now and we'd better start thinking carefully about what that really means.
