Prime Minister Amy Andrews today announced new restrictions on US citizens coming to occupy their mansions in New Zealand, citing national security concerns. Elon Musk and Peter Thiel were barred from entering New Zealand airspace yesterday, forcing their private jets to divert to Sydney Australia where they were granted temporary landing rights. In a snap Internet poll after the ban was announced, 78% of New Zealand citizens indicated they either approved or strongly approved of the measure.

Speaking in Parliament this morning, Prime Minister Andrews said, “The New Zealand government has taken the view that it is not in our national interest to become the Argentina of the twenty-first century.” This has been taken as an oblique reference to the fact the South American nation became the favorite destination of members of the German Nazi Party following Germany’s defeat in World War II. Prime Minister Andrews went on to say, “As these two individuals were instrumental in aiding and abetting the second Trump administration to commit a wide variety of crimes against humanity, and as they remain fervent supporters of such crimes, promulgating intentional misinformation on platforms like X (formerly known as Twitter), we believe that permitting them to run from the consequences of their actions and hide in the…
