No one in Russia is going to "come to their senses" because opposing Putin means (best case) being consigned to a gulag and daily beatings, or (worst case) being executed by one of his goons.
It's lovely to imagine a world in which the threat of the ICC deterred anyone at all, but in the real world only force can counter force. Unfortunately the West is spineless, and so Ukraine will be crushed.
The rationale for Western inaction is the fear of Putin unleashing nuclear weapons. But this fear will also, necessarily, prevent NATO from defending Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania when Putin decides to crush those nations too and re-establish his corridor to Kaliningrad.
Putin will never, ever, see the inside of any court unless he decides to turn up to witness one of his victims being condemned in a show trial. It's more likely that he's been diagnosed with some terminal illness, hence the urgency of his invasion of Ukraine. An old man who hears the clock ticking will be stopped only by overwhelming force, not by any milquetoast nonsense about courts and trials. But as the overwhelming force will never be applied, Putin will go to his grave having murdered thousands in order to pursue his empty dream of restoring the Russian Empire.
