One could also argue that the Gospel of the Flying Spaghetti Monster is infinitely more intelligent than any of the neurotic stunted little mythologies that arose from the cult of El (later rebranded as Yahweh, presumably due to poor initial market-testing). The red sauce/redshift concept is funny, as is the explanation for why the Hubble constant seems to have increased around 6 billion years ago. Whether a mythology based on intelligence and humor can do more than eke out a niche followship remains to be seen, however. Traditional mythologies seem to indicate that in order to be highly successful, one needs simple-minded nonsense that appeals to the cognitively stunted.
