One of the major reasons the BTG structure has failed in Ukraine is that degradation (or elimination) of any one component effectively renders all other components equally degraded. Russia is indeed adapting now and the results are becoming clear as Russia continues to capture more Ukrainian territory. As for NATO, the RUSI report on an exercise held in late 2022 in the Baltic states showed that the UK is now unable to perform combined arms. While NATO's technological superiority remains, and while NATO troops are generally far better trained and disciplined than Russian troops, NATO has a lot of major weaknesses (inability of different contingents from different countries to work together cohesively, shortages of vital equipment and ammunition, a command structure that encourages dithering and prevarication rather than swift and decisive action, etc.) and it seems that few in NATO are seriously reassessing based on what's happening in Ukraine. As is so often the case - and as happened to Russia - complacency rarely leads to acceptable outcomes. NATO is, and remains, far too complacent.
