One very difficult problem to mitigate is the fact our brains are hardwired to prefer simple concepts and shun complex ideas. Nearly all misinformation is packaged into simple-minded soundbites and easy-to-grasp concepts. Reality, conversely, is generally rather complex and does not permit the kinds of misleading simplification that makes false claims so appealing to so many people.
