People often become confused about the differences between science, philosophy, and religion, and sadly this article merely falls into the classic confusions seen too often elsewhere. It is perhaps a good example of why specialists should generally stick to writing about what they know, especially when the evident desire is to avoid confrontation by repeating ill-formulated cliches. Stephen Jay Gould remains the pre-eminent example of such intellectual fudging with his absurd "non-overlapping magisteria" argument, and apparently his influence persists. Amusingly, philosophy in fact has a term for this type of intellectual confusion: it's called a Category Error.
