Personally, given how our species acts like a cancer across the planet and is busy exterminating everything in its path, I suspect it will be far better for the Earth if we do self-destruct. If that indeed is our end-point (as seems more likely than not) let’s hope it happens soon while there are still a few other life forms around. If we tarry too long, we’ll leave scorched earth and empty oceans in our wake. Of course eventually life will recover and resume, new species and ecosystems will emerge. But why make it more difficult for evolution than necessary? Let’s adopt a new slogan. Instead of wishing we could save ourselves and the planet, let’s campaign to Leave Now!
