Press releases are one thing, reality another. It remains to be seen how successful Jeep will be with its new EV range of vehicles. It's interesting to note that GM's all-electric Hummer seems to break down in nearly every Youtube off-road test, for example. Moreover, a lot of people who take their vehicles off-road need two things (i) a winch, and (ii) extra range. With a gasoline-powered vehicle these two things are easy: just add a Warn and a couple of jerry cans. But an EV's batteries will rapidly drain when a winch is being used, and you can't just strap some battery packs to the rear tailgate.

All in all, Jeep will likely do well among the poseurs who go for Rivians etc. but the real off-road community is a different proposition entirely. And Jeep relies on these people for its brand credibility.
