Religionists seem perpetually unable to understand why intelligent people don't have any interest in fairytales about gods. It's not because of some silly irrational notion like trying to prove the non-existence of a non-existent phenomenon. First-year philosophy students learn why that's not only pointless but tedious too. The reason atheists can't be bothered to waste time on fairytales is because they have no value.
Here's the simple version: "Hey, how did all this stuff around me come into existence?"
"I can answer that one! My god made it!"
"OK, so how did your god get here?"
....crickets... followed by "my god was always here."
In other words, the god story explains nothing, and is merely a pointless regression with no value, and no credibility.
Sadly, this simple fact forever eludes those who, doubtless for emotional reasons, want to believe in fairytales - or rather, whatever particular fairytale they happen to be familiar with by circumstance of birth and social influence.
