Reproducibility is key to empiricism and it is long overdue that incentives were provided to encourage other teams to attempt to reproduce key experiments rather than rush off to do something new simply because no one cares about publishing “stale” studies. As at least 50% of all reported results are in fact unreproducible, science is facing an enormous problem that largely goes unnoticed and unaddressed.
