Sadly, any "peace deal" will simply be (i) turning the occupied territories into a permanent gulag, and (ii) enable Russia to rearm sufficiently to successfully take Kyiv in a handful of years. Western people seem totally incapable of grasping the most basic facts about Russian aggression, and unfortunately this writer is among the clueless.
