Sadly, the mass media continues to mislead people. The Higgs field contributes about 1% of the mass of protons and neutrons, with the remaining 99% of their rest mass coming from the kinetic energy of their constituent parts (quarks & gluons). The Higgs field is indeed important, but it's not "the god particle" except in nonsense written by journalists desperate to get a byline by means of, once again, sensationalizing something they don't actually understand.
