Sjoerd, I adored your various examples of what people do in order to avoid accepting the fact the horse is dead; I’ve seen examples of every one of those phenomenon at different times across a variety of organizations. My quibble with your article regarding the ideal scrum team’s reaction is that is seems to assume the team is safely isolated within a repercussion-free bubble. In reality, people within an organization regardless of their nominal structure or methodology must conform to organizational norms if they want to remain employed. I’ve never seen even the most highly-respected team survive intact the woeful business of attempting to tell truth to power.
