Thanks for a comprehensive summary of the events in question. Sadly we’ve not really progressed in any way and I won’t be surprised when witch trials recur in the USA in the years ahead. After all, it’s not so long ago a modern-day witch trial was conducted by the US Congress (the Committee on UnAmerican Activities) and things have declined a great deal since then.
