Thanks for writing these articles, Jed. Far too few people are aware of these aspects of US history, despite the fact they keep repeating themselves. As a European who lived in the USA for 27 years, I can say it's unclear whether the US can ever fully eradicate the racism and prejudice that seems so fundamentally a part of such a large swath of the country. All nations are vulnerable to racism, but the USA has so many systemic reinforcements that progress sometimes seems impossible.
