Thanks Manuel, your article is a great primer for those who’ve not yet delved into Beethoven in any depth. I’d simply add that learning a little musical theory, and learning how to listen to complex music, adds so much additional joy and comprehension that it’s worth making the effort even if a person starts off not knowing the difference between a treble clef and and adagio.
