Thanks Siddhart for the interesting article. While some people seem unable to prevent themselves from shouting “Alien Civilization!” every time nature shows us something new, the reality is invariably far more interesting and far less sci-fi. As for the Dyson sphere, I truly don’t understand how anyone can ever, under any circumstances, imagine that such a thing would be (i) feasible regardless of advanced tech, and far more importantly, (ii) energy-effective. There are simply so many other, better, cheaper, faster ways to generate huge amounts of energy that an alien civilization would have to be even more dim-witted than we are even to consider creating such a pointless artifact.
