Thanks Steven for a very interesting article. Julian is definitely one of the most interesting characters the Roman Empire produced, which is saying something. We tend to think of history as a succession of inevitable events but of course so much is stochastic. Given how awful the impact of Christian mythology has been on Europe and then on the world in general, one cannot but wish that Julian had lived and in subsequent years acted to reduce the harms resulting from these neurotic, homophobic, and xenophobic, fairytales.
