The fundamental problem is our hardwired behaviors are entirely maladaptive in the modern world, where our wondrous technologies amplify our inherent limitations. And now that we're running away and hiding under the bed of mindless populism/nationalism the notion of all working together to avert crisis is untenable. In short we're headed for global catastrophe while our "leaders" posture and bluster and lie endlessly and the simple-minded and profoundly ignorant lap it up and applaud wildly.
